Greetings from SangeetSabha!
We are excited begin our season on April 6th with a Vocal concert. Dhrupad is one of the oldest forms of singing from India and we are delighted in bringing the renowned Gundecha Brothers to New York City. They have been awarded the Padam Shree this year in recognition of their immense advancement of this rare art form. The following clip has highlights from a recent concert:
It is rare to hear a Dhrupad concert in its full glory these days, and we invite you mark your calendar for this important event.

Two of our artist affiliates, Purbayan Chatterjee and Anubrata Chatterjee are making their acting debut in Mainak Bhaumik’s “Maach Mishti & More”.
Purbayan told the press in a recent interview, “The film’s producer, Joy Ganguly, is a dear friend. I’d often tell him that it’s time he offered me a role. On Saturday, he asked me to come down to shoot a wedding scene. I was asked to get some friends along. I took Anubrata along. We played ourselves. I have lines mentioning my forthcoming album, “IP Address”. Such an exercise gives greater visibility though I’d only take up roles I’m comfortable with.” [Source: Times of India
